Roof Dunnage & Catwalks — Project Photos
Roof Dunnage and Catwalk Types We Fabricate
HVAC unit bases and equipment frames are the most common request — structural steel frames supporting rooftop HVAC units, condensers, cooling towers, and air handling units, mounted through roof structural beams or on surface-mounted posts. Floating and moment-connection dunnage uses cantilevered steel frames that distribute equipment loads across the roof structure without penetrating the roof membrane — ideal for newer buildings with membrane roof systems. Through-roof post dunnage penetrates the roof deck and connects directly to the building's structural beams below, used for heavy equipment loads on older NYC commercial buildings. Steel catwalks and raised walkways with galvanized grating decks, pipe railings, and fixed ladder access provide safe maintenance access to rooftop equipment. Antenna mast bases and telecom support structures are fabricated for wireless carriers and building owners installing rooftop communications equipment.
